Testimonials

I've helped as many people as I can over the years and endeavour to do as much as I can. Below are some kind testimonials from just a few of the many kind people I have had the pleasure to work with.

Unwavering devotion to the cause of dementia

From my perspective at Memory Matters, I have witnessed Gina's unwavering devotion to the cause of dementia, a commitment that truly sets her apart.

Gina embodies a person-centred approach in every interaction. Her focus is always, without exception, on the individual, their needs, their dignity, and their well-being. She possesses a rare ability to connect with people living with dementia, seeing beyond the condition to the person within, and ensuring their voice is heard and respected.

Her work is characterised by profound empathy, tireless advocacy, and a genuine passion for making a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by dementia and their families. Gina is not just dedicated; she is an inspiration, consistently demonstrating what it means to be truly focused on others. Her efforts are invaluable to those affected by dementia and our community.

Massive influence and inspiration

Gina has been a massive influence and inspiration for so many people including myself, having been the absolute driving force in setting up and driving the Exeter Dementia Action Alliance for over a decade. I first met Gina over 10 years ago when I was invited to support her huge volume of dementia information sessions she led. Gina has the great talent of being able to put people at ease whilst imparting powerful messages and learning, relating to her strong passion for dementia care. I know Gina has also been part of wider collaborations in areas addressing end of life care and mental health care too. Gina is a genuinely kind and sincere person who has made it a lifetime mission to reach out to people living with dementia and their loved ones. I have first hand experience of dealing with people Gina was an anchor to. I was a local care home owner looking after people with dementia. Gina took a lead in facilitating a placement in one of my homes in the most compassionate, heartfelt and supportive manner to a couple in crisis where she played a vital part in resolving their urgent need. I have also enlisted Gina’s expertise to lead training and present at Devon wide conferences and events as I was one of the founders of the Devon Care Kitemark residential care for some years. Gina always delivered a perspective of the “lived experience” on behalf of others which was articulate, evocative and uplifting, demonstrating her credibility in how she spends so much of her time dealing with the people she continues to support. I have always recognised Gina’s exceptional balance of drive, humility and confidence and know from all those I know who know Gina, that her reputation as a dynamic dementia champion is second to none. The fact that Gina, in a somewhat self effacing manner, has become a widely acknowledged and well read author, a local radio presenter and host, and recipient of awards and accolades, is a further testimony to her dedication. I only know of half of the great work that she has done and is doing and consider myself fortunate to know her and be able to call her a great ally and buddy.

Simply remarkable

Gina is simply remarkable. Spend even a few minutes with her and you feel it, that rare mix of warmth, empathy and determination that draws people in and inspires them to be better.

What she’s done for people living with dementia, their families, and our community is extraordinary. It’s not just her knowledge or tireless work, it’s the way she makes people feel truly seen and valued. Gina doesn’t just talk about compassion, she lives it, every single day.
